Expert caricaturist John Doherty specializes in drawing live caricature art at parties and in-studio illustrations from photographs. John is a recipient of a speed award from the International Society of Caricature Artists (formerly the National Caricaturist’s Network) for speed and likeness. He has been invited display his work and draw at the prestigious Salon at St. Juste le Martel in France. He has drawn from life everyone from rock stars to US Senators and presidential candidates. A professional caricaturist since graduating college, John spent several years as the house caricaturist at The Bull & Finch (“Cheers”) Pub in Boston. John is known as one of the most talented and fastest working artists in the New England area, generally drawing between 20 and 22 people per hour in his black brush line “head shot” style. In full color, with hobby or sport depicted, expect 7-9 people per hour.

John also offers digital caricature for an additional fee. Drawing on an iPad, your guests can watch the image develop on a flat screen. Images are printed on the spot, and the jpgs can be emailed after the fact. This has been particularly popular with our corporate clients at shows, conventions and expositions to draw traffic to the booth.
