Mostly I do two types of art: entertainment caricature, done on site for parties or other gatherings (private, business or schools) , and in studio illustration for editorial or advertising purposes. Here's a swing at a swingin' guy: the classic Frank Sinatra of the 50s & 60s. This is a gouache painting on paper, later scanned & tweaked in Photoshop.

This was a recent private commission for an architechtural firm that was planning a party & needed invitation art. They loved the work of the great Al Hirschfeld (and who doesn't?), and wanted something that referenced that body of work. In my opinion, Hirschfeld is not only the greatest caricaturist of modern times, he's the greatest that ever did it, period. Attempting to emulate his style was a bit daunting, but I took the job and satisfied the client, even if I know I am just trying on the King's slippers while he's out of the room.
